About Us

Our Story

Shalom Orphanage Centre was founded in 2004 by Mama Warra Nnko to provide a safe haven for orphans and abandoned children in Karatu, Tanzania. Starting on a donated two-acre plot, Shalom has grown into a loving home for 75 children aged 0 to 18, offering them shelter, care, education, and hope for a brighter future.

Guided by compassion, our children learn the values of sharing and community, exemplified through initiatives like donating gifts to street children during Christmas. We also focus on sustainability, growing food and raising livestock to support our needs while teaching life skills.

Our Vision

What We Do

Care and Support: Providing essentials like food, shelter, and medical care to every child.
Education: Operating a nursery school for young children and supporting older children in attending local schools.
Community Outreach: Teaching values of sharing and compassion, such as donating gifts to street children during Christmas.
Sustainability: Growing our own food and keeping livestock, including poultry, cattle, and pigs, to support self-sufficiency.
